Dear Fellow PBMA
Member,
As
your board chair and a long-time PBMA member,
I am pleased to report that PBMA continues to keep
public broadcasting managers well-informed, trained,
and confident to face the challenges of the future. This
was clearly evident at our
annual meeting in Tampa
but if you were unable to attend, here is an outline of
what your organization has done and plans to do:
|
|
Some of our
accomplishments this year were: |
-
Nine
Toolkits – 7 with CPE credit attached –
to keep you abreast of business
-
Quarterly Roundtable discussions on finance,
human
resources, and management topics
-
A
Request for Proposal for PBMA association
management services
|
|
Our
projects for next year include:
GROWTH:
- Increase the number of PBMA
members
- Increase attendance at
the 2011 conference
- Increase conference
underwriting by 10%
- Make PBMA more visible
to national organizations and
provide effective representation of the
membership at the
national level
- Screen applicants and
select management organization
for PBMA for
fiscal year 2012.
PARTNERSHIP:
- Research industry partners for our 2012
conference
CONNECTIVITY:
- Maintain effective and regular
communication
with you
- Formally survey
membership on PBMA’s future direction
- Provide networking and
professional development
opportunities beyond
the annual conference

Member Dues:
For FY 11, the PBMA board has decided to implement
the first
membership dues increase in two years. We do not take this
action lightly. With a 10% dues increase, our intent is to
keep your
association strong and to grow its ability to be
of greater support and
service to you.
New member benefit: the PBMA Toolkits which formerly
cost $ 125 will
now be free to PBMA members. The Toolkits
are one-hour seminars on
critical topics, and many of them
carry CPE credit. Your board is glad to
be able to make
this change, and we hope it will broaden the impact of –
and your participation in -- these useful, informative
professional develop-
ment opportunities.
The year ahead could be a watershed for public
broadcasters. You can
count on PBMA to provide you, your
staff and your fellow public broad-
casting managers with the
highest levels of leadership training, mentoring,
and
educational opportunities.
