Effective 3D Interviewing
In the current economy public broadcasters are more hard-pressed
than ever to succeed with limited operating resources. Since labor
comprises such a significant and key segment of our operating
resources, accurate and prudent staffing decisions are invariably
critical to the success we seek. We must precisely pinpoint the
skill-sets and talents that will keep the organization viable and
growing, and effectively recruit and employ labor that specifically
meets those requirements at lowest possible costs. Effective
“Three-Dimensional Interviewing offers proven approaches to
achieving this. How do I best identify and define the organization’s
labor needs? How can I best attract the skill-sets and talents
required? What interview questions are likely to result in legal
“hot-water”? What interviewing approach can best lead me to
effectively qualify applicants, and select the best person for the
job? How can I best diversify my organization’s staff? Effective
“Three-Dimensional Interviewing offers tested principles and
techniques that address these and other important questions to
enable you to get the most from your staffing and recruitment
efforts.

Station Peer Review
Assessment Tool
How does a station prepare to face the challenges and questions
raised in times of management transition? Due to frequent turnover
in university administrations and the retirement of many long-time
managers, changes in university public radio stations are looming.
This session will assist in planning for such a transition.
Producer: Cynthia M. Dobek, Nevada Public Radio
Presenter: Craig Beeby, University Station Alliance
Madison Hodges, WQCS
Learning Objectives:
This session will present a review process for public broadcasters
that would be familiar to university administrators, who are
accustomed to outside reviews of their academic programs. The result
of this session could be greater licensee buy-in to a station’s
future plans.
The session draws from best practices in the field. The session
can also provide the station’s staff, board, and
university-licensees with ideas for addressing current challenges
and identifying resources to aid in that effort. Though the
assessment tool is designed specifically for university-licensed
stations, it is also user-friendly and appropriate for
community-licensed and school-licensed stations.
