Improving Performance through Employee Engagement
The achievement of an organization’s mission and objectives can only be effectively achieved when all employees are fully motivated and dedicated to pursuing these ends. That is why the term “employee engagement” is so widely discussed and written about in today’s business circles. However, individual managers can do much to enhance and strengthen the engagement of their employees without incurring the often prohibitive costs of hiring consultants. This session presents practical approaches for affecting this.

403B  Plan Regulation Changes-What You Need to Know!

On July 26, 2007 the Treasury Department and IRS issued the first significant revision of Section 403(b) regulations in over 40 years. These regulations require plan documents on all plans, effect reporting and audit requirements, and allow plans to be fully terminated. Failure to comply with these regulations can cause the employee’s contracts to not qualify under IRS Section 403(b) rules and all amounts will apparently become taxable in 2009. We will present an overview of these regulations that, for most employers, go into effect January 1, 2009.

Producer: Cynthia Dobek, Nevada Public Radio
Presenter: Jim Tiensvold, Mutual of America

Learning objectives:
- Description of the rules that went into effect 9/25/07 regarding Tax-Free (90-24) Transfers.
- Overview of other provisions of the regulations that will be in effect January 1, 2009.
